6.13.2010/NSCRA at MD Int’l Raceway
- Talk about being hoooot…..the action at the track was where the action was! Sport compact class with motors of all variations were at this event, which was held at MD International Raceway. Despite threats of showers during the day, racing was the gameplan of the day. Track temps were close to the 90’s and track times ranged from 7 to 8 seconds and _fast_ speeds started easily at 150 MPH!
- Also present at this event was Jessica Barton, who hosted the bikini contest. I’m not sure which was hotter — racing at the track or the bikini contest. You can be the judge of that. Coverage by N deVera and A Dobbs.
- If you missed this event, be sure to attend the next NSCRA event at MIR – it will be held on July 25 and the third round will return on September 19.

21-23: NJ Vintage Grand Prix/Family Festival (NJMP)
- Thunderbolt Raceway was the host of this years NJ Vintage Grand Prix and Family festival. Focus was also given to those who served our country. There were vendors galor and monster truck rides for the kids at heart and not to mention there was some racing done on the track. Cars from teh 50’s and 60’s were on the track. Also present was a motorcycle parade on Saturday – among those who were in honor were those who were wounded in action and veterans of previous tours. The same parade on Sunday was held to honor high school seniors who are inlisted in the armed forces. Indeed this festival was for families and also racers alike.

- Kids (both old and young) were able to visit the paddocks and get their pictures taken with their favorate vintage car. Indeed, this event although it was a Grand Prix, was more of watching history and how the track racing evolved over the eyars.

09: SCCA TransAm Weekend and VW TDI Cup, NJMP
- Talk about a day for racing: at this event, Milleville, NJ where the New Jersey Motorsports Park is located is where the maiden SCCA Pro Racing Event took place. Laps were in the 1 minute 22 second timeframe and an exciting 40 laps was the schedule for this event. The main event was the Trans-Am Series, that included support races from the VW TDI Cup, Spec Racer Pro and even a vintage Trans-Am Race.

- The VW TDI Cup race was also a crowd pleaser. 19 “quiet” laps with lap times running around the 1:35 mark, make for some great racing. The podium results were as follows: [1] JuanPablo SierraLendle/Puebla/MX Pirelli/VW Jetta TDI, [2] Arie Ouimet(R)/Plymouth/MA VW Parts & Accessories/VW Jetta TDI and [3] Chris Wehrheim(R)/Norcross/GA Lamin-X/VW Jetta TDI. On a little tidbit of information, these cars travel nationwide and complete their practice/racing on a total of 30 gallons/car. Now imagine, what’s the mileage per gallon (or per lap) they get per race?

ARCA Remax Race and TDI CUP Race (NJMP)
- 9/2009: ARCA REMAX/VW TDI Cup (NJMP) – NJMP was lucky to have the ARCA series visit them during last year. That series along with the VW TDI Cup during 1 weekend results in more racing than you can handle in a weekend. For those who are new to ARCA racing, basically the drivers are professional racers as well as hobby racer. The cars are actually most cars used in the RE/MAX Series were previously used in NASCARThis year’s ARCA race at NMP brought about diehard racing fans and the VW CUP race brought about many VW junkies. Speaking of VWs, for 2009 Hyperfuels became the official supplier for the TDI Cup. In 2010 all the race cars will all be run on SynDiesel B5 Biodiesel as well as all the vehicle/equipment transporters and generators used by the series. Late in the 2008 season Pirelli announced that they would be the official tire supplier for the 2009 VW TDI Cup season. Coverage of this event by Allen Dobbs can be viewed by visiting this link.

Redline Time Attack – Englishtown Raceway, NJ
- 8/2009: Red Line Time Attack (Englishtown, NJ) - Thanks to the work of Allen Dobbs he was able to attend this event and supply these pictures. Feel free to visit his website here to view additional pictures or purchase images.Up close and near the action. That’s how it should be. Coverage thru the eyes of Allen can be seen here.

- The track at Englishtown, NJ was stop #6 of 8 for this national event. Cloudy and rain was the forecast but mother nature cooperated and the events were held as scheduled. For the newbies, this series of events held in North America basically is held at tracks nationwide, that test a driver’s skills given track conditions, number of turns and breaking skills of drivers. All this all with the timer running. The four classes are as follows: Stock, Street, Modified and Unlimited. When all is said and done, for each of the classes you are entered in, he (or she) who runs the fastest time wins. Yes, it is “that simple.”
- This event is open to the general public: for both spectating and participating. It’s open to both domestic and import models. All drivers are welcome to enter and show their driving skills.
